The Doctors Guide to Thriving in Locum Tenens
Thinking about doing locums but don’t know how to start? Already doing locums but not as satisfied as you'd like? Wondering what locums is like? These questions and more are answered in my course, The Doctors Guide to Thriving in Locum Tenens.
I'm Dr. Cory S. Fawcett, the author of the award winning and best-selling The Doctors Guide book series which include: The Doctors Guide to Starting Your Practice Right, The Doctors Guide to Eliminating Debt, and The Doctors Guide to Smart Career Alternatives and Retirement. After twenty years in a general surgery single specialty private practice, I decided to go part time and begin to taper off my workload. Since part time wasn't an option in my general surgery partnership contract, I turned to locums and found great joy in serving as a locums doctor in rural America.
The last three years of my career were spent working part time giving call relief to lone general surgeons in critical access hospitals. It was a fun and rewarding way to cap off a great career. I was able to work as much or as little as I wanted taking time off between assignments to travel.
There's no need to venture into the locums world without some foreknowledge of what is to come. Let me teach you what I learned during my years of locums so you don't need to reinvent the wheel.
Locums comes in many forms:
-Weekend coverage to put a little more money in your pocket or pay off debt.
-Short stents for a change of pace or part time work.
-Longer assignments to experience different practices or parts of the country.
-Full time assignments while searching for your dream job.
-Full time locums as a career.
As you can see, locums has something for everyone.
